Stars, Flannel & Vintage Weekend is the City of Flowery Branch’s three-day fall market, and it starts on Thursday, five days from when we wrote this. It is run by the City’s events office, the Department of Fun. Each day has a different focus and a different set of hours, and the City’s own pages do not agree on all of those hours. Below is the schedule as the City’s event page gives it, where each part happens, and what to do about the conflict.

The weekend at a glance

  • Thursday, Oct. 22, 1 to 7 PM: farmers market with more than 50 vendors, petting zoo at City Hall.
  • Friday, Oct. 23, 9 AM to 9 PM: craft classes in the Depot, live music on Main Street, The Parent Trap at dusk at The AMP.
  • Saturday, Oct. 24, 9 AM to 2 PM: pop-up market at the pavilion.
  • Free to attend. Some classes need registration.
  • Bring five non-perishable food items to get a free event bag.

What is on Thursday, Oct. 22?

Thursday is the farmers market, made bigger. The Flowery Branch Farmers Market already meets every Thursday from May to October under the pavilion at 5210 Railroad Ave., normally from 3:30 to 6:30 PM. For this weekend the City lists it from 1 to 7 PM with more than 50 vendors. If you shop the market every week, this is the same market on a longer afternoon, not a separate event you need a ticket for.

There is also a petting zoo at City Hall, which the City lists at 5410 Pine Street rather than on Railroad Avenue. The City describes downtown as walkable, with small blocks, so families can split the afternoon between the market and the petting zoo.

One more Thursday market is left in the summer season after this one: Oct. 29, the same afternoon as the City’s Trunk or Treat. Winter dates are on our farmers market page.

What is on Friday, Oct. 23?

Friday runs longest, from 9 AM to 9 PM. Craft classes are held inside the Depot, the 1890 railroad station at the corner of Railroad Avenue and Main Street. Its plaque gives the address as 5302 Railroad Ave. The City says some classes need registration, so if a class is the reason you are coming, sign up on the event page before you turn up at the door.

Live music plays on Main Street during the day. At dusk the City shows The Parent Trap at The AMP, the Flowery Branch Amphitheater at 5603 Mitchell St. The event page does not give a start time beyond dusk.

What is on Saturday, Oct. 24?

Saturday is the short day, 9 AM to 2 PM, with a pop-up market at the pavilion on Railroad Avenue. If you can make just one day and you are there to shop, Thursday is the day with a published vendor count. Saturday suits a morning visit.

How does the food drive bag work?

The weekend doubles as a food drive for the Georgia Mountain Food Bank. Bring five non-perishable food items and you get a free event bag, while supplies last. The City does not say how many bags it has, so put the cans in the car before you leave home and drop them off early in your visit.

Which hours are right, the event page or the calendar?

This is the part to watch. The City’s event page gives Thursday 1 to 7 PM, Friday 9 AM to 9 PM and Saturday 9 AM to 2 PM. The entries for the same weekend on the City’s events calendar are different. One gives Friday as 1 to 6 PM. Saturday shows up as 10 AM to 2 PM in one entry and 9 AM to 4 PM in another.

We print the event page’s hours because it is the fuller of the two and it lists every activity. Both are City pages, though, and we cannot tell you which one is out of date. If you are coming for something with a fixed time, such as a Friday class, check the City’s Facebook updates in the week of the event. If you are coming to browse, aim for the middle of each day, when both versions agree the event is on.

Where is everything, and where do I park?

Everything sits within the few blocks the City calls Old Town:

  • Market Pavilion, 5210 Railroad Ave.: Thursday market and Saturday pop-up.
  • The Depot, 5302 Railroad Ave., at Railroad Avenue and Main Street: Friday craft classes.
  • City Hall, 5410 Pine Street: Thursday petting zoo.
  • Main Street: Friday live music.
  • The AMP, 5603 Mitchell St.: Friday movie at dusk.

The event page has no parking or street-closure information. The one set of downtown parking areas the City has published is for a different event, its Dec. 10 Christmas Market: Pine Street by City Hall, the gravel lot across from City Hall, Railroad Avenue in front of the Police Department, parallel parking on Mitchell Street and Railroad Avenue, Snelling Avenue and the Chestnut Street lot. The City has not said those apply this weekend. Our parking page explains what is and is not published.

What comes after the weekend?

Trunk or Treat is Thursday, Oct. 29, from 3:30 to 7 PM along Main Street and Railroad Avenue. On Saturday, Oct. 31, the Boo Run 5K starts at 9 AM by its race page. The full fall list is on our events calendar, and the weekend has its own event page.
