Plan your downtown day

Pick how long you have and what you like. The planner chooses sourced stops, puts them in a walking order starting from the depot, and suggests where to park if you are driving.

Or start from one of three ready-made plans:

The railroad town, on foot

A short history walk from the depot up Main Street.

  1. Historic Train Depot and Flowery Branch Museum (5302 Railroad Avenue (corner of Railroad Avenue and Main Street)): Start where the town started: the depot the City dates to about 1890, moved to this corner in 2000 and now a community center and museum.
  2. Flowery Branch Commercial Historic District (Main Street and Railroad Avenue): Main Street and Railroad Avenue, on the National Register since 1985; the City's walking tour numbers more than 30 sites.
  3. Old Bank of Flowery Branch (5506 Main Street): An 1896 Italianate bank building that later held a soda fountain. View it from the sidewalk.
  4. Historic Caboose (North end of Main Street (visible from Atlanta Highway, SR 13)): A former working caboose at the north end of Main Street, now a small museum piece.
  5. Peyton's Pie Company (5609 Main Street): Wood-fired pizza in the middle of the historic downtown.

A Thursday market afternoon

Coffee, Main Street shops, the market, then dinner.

  1. Arpeggio Coffee & Bakery (5603 Main Street (The Porch on Main)): A sourdough bakery and coffee shop inside The Porch on Main.
  2. The Porch on Main (5603 Main Street): Visitor services from Discover Lake Lanier plus small local businesses under one roof on Main Street.
  3. The Social Peach Boutique (5515 Main Street): A small clothing boutique on Main Street.
  4. Farmers Market Pavilion (5210 Railroad Avenue): The farmers market's home: every Thursday from May to October, the 2nd and 4th Thursdays from November to April.

What a half day looks like

Half a day is the planner’s default: about four hours and up to five stops, starting from the depot. If you would rather not choose, start from one of the three ready-made plans shown with the planner.

  • The railroad town, on foot: the depot, the Commercial Historic District, the Old Bank of Flowery Branch and the historic caboose, then pizza at Peyton’s Pie Company.
  • A Thursday market afternoon: coffee at Arpeggio, The Porch on Main, The Social Peach Boutique, the farmers market pavilion, then dinner at Antebellum.
  • Main Street to the water: Whole Being Cafe, the depot and the historic district, then down to Flowery Branch Bay Park and Fish Tales at the marina.

Walking times in the planner are straight-line estimates from map coordinates, not measured routes. Check each place’s hours before you go. Whole Being Cafe posts Sunday and Monday as closed, so on those days start at Caroline’s on Main instead. We found no published opening hours for the depot museum. Posted restaurant hours are on the restaurants page, and more stops are on things to do and Main Street.
